In the 16th century Gargunnock House started life as a tower house, a suitable dwelling that provided some degree  protection for of its owners in those troubled times. The house has seen realms rise and fall and it has survived the many battles fought for control of the surrounding lands of central Scotland since that time . Gargunnock has been owned and lived in by the scions of three great families – the Campbells the Eidingtouns and finally the Stirlings. Each added to the house in their own way; whether building new wings which were added onto the original tower, the Georgian façade which was added in 1794 or landscaping the grounds and planting the trees that you see in the parkland surrounding the house.
